You probably won't find much better than what you got quoted. You have no driving record that any company would care about (even if you have no tickets) and you want to insure a high risk, high performance car, which has a noted history of break-ins and theft (just ask anyone with one living in Quebec). Try insuring the car under your parents policy (will a save $). Or maybe pick a different car that doesn't have a rep that makes insurers bite their nails. Also check out Kanetix.ca for quotes, can't hurt.
FWIW before getting my last car (MZ3) I got quoted around $5000/yr with a perfectly clean record at 24yrs/old for a plain old vanilla Civic by the big three banks - just because of the cars rep. A loaded brand new (at the time) 2004 Mazda3 sport cost me $2600/yr to insure. Then I turned 25 and it dropped to $1200/yr... (this was when I lived in Burlington). You WILL get raped by the insurers until you're 25 - clean record or not.
