Default 2008 impreza - STi manual shifter

Hi! I'm new here, and a first time owner of a subi. I'm considering switching the stock manual shifter in my 08 impreza sport to STi shifters - my previous car (Acura Integra) has a much more crisp and short shifter.

Has anyone tried the STi shifter? How does it shift? Any feedbacks would be greatly appriciated.

(by the way, the best manual shifter I've driven so far is on a Saab 9-3... Short and precise.)

Subaru's by far have the worst feeling shifter.. if you are comparing it to an Acura... fugadabout it... i've changed practically everything connected the knob to the tranny..

bushings, shifter, knob, and aside from swapping in a STI 6 spd, it'll all help, but won't get you close at all...

throw in there a short shifter, and some KB bushings and call it a day.

I actually like subaru's shifter more than honda's. You get to feel what is going on in the transmission. Where as when you are driving a civic, you just sort of push the shift lever into gear and you dont get much feedback.

I have the group N tranny mount, rear bushings, front bushings and the pivot bushings.
I like the feel of it... very crisp
I did have a Short shifter but it found that to be too much..
a little TOO harsh... i removed it.. and I am very happy with just using the stock shifter with the upgraded bushings.
